AEM, Boeing and ProMexico recognize Mexican youth, winners of aerospace contest

The Mexican Space Agency (AEM) announced the winners of the "National Contest of Aerospace Innovation Mexico 2016", which evaluated the proposals of young students of applied technology to attend to the needs of different companies from the aerospace sector. The review criteria was the concept of the proposal, originality, the application in the industry, innovation and the degree of technological maturity according to the Technology Readiness Level (TRL) standard by NASA. The winners were: Diana Olivas and Rocio Dominguez, from the Autonomous University Chihuahua (UACH), with the project "Characterization of materials against radioactive particles"; Leonardo Roca, from the Aeronautical University in Queretaro (UNAQ), with the project "Unicopter"; Victor Hernandez, from the Ecatepec Superior Institute of Technology, for the project "Classification of organic compounds using an electronic nose and deep learning artificial neurological network"; Luis Barba and Edson Perez, from the Marista University in Guadalajara, with the project "Heimdall System"; and Mario Olivares, Arturo Rios and Hector Perrusquia, from the UNAQ, with its "Smart Matlab App to calculate and optimize the structural characteristics of components of a wing, using mathematical models".
